Orange Belt (7th kyu)
Orange belt is an exciting level. You have now passed your first few gradings and you are starting to grasp the basics of karate. Much like at yellow belt, your focus should be on incorporating your hips into your movement, and working on how to relax as you execute techniques. The training syllabus for a 87h kyu is as follows:
Basics (Kihon)
Zenkutsu Dachi, Gedan Barai (front stance, low sweeping block)
- Chudan jun tsuki (punch to solar plexus).
- Jodan kizami tsuki (jab to the face using front hand, executed stepping backward).
- Chudan gyaku tsuki (reverse punch to solar plexus).
- Jodan age uke, gyaku tsuki (upwards, face-level block followed by reverse punch to solar plexus).
- Chudan soto uke, gyaku tsuki (outside block at midsection-level followed by reverse punch to solar plexus).
- Chudan uchi uke, gyaku tsuki (inside block at midsection-level followed by reverse punch to solar plexus).
Note: All should be done stepping forward and backward.
Kokutsu Dachi, Shuto Uke (back stance, knife hand block)
- Chudan shuto uke (forward and backward, knife hand block).
Note: Should be done stepping forward and backward.
Zenkutsu Dachi, Kamae (front stance, hands to the side
- Mae geri (front snap kick).
- Mawashi geri (front roundhouse kick, knee to the side).
Kiba Dachi (horse riding stance)
- Yoko geri keage (side snap kick to the chin using dorsel/instep of foot).
- Yoko geri kekomi (side thrust kick to the midsection using outside blade of foot).

Fighting techniques (Kumite)
The minimum training time before your attempting a grading to 6th kyu is 3 months with a minimum of 36 hours of class time.
